Oil and composite gold leaf on panels. The painting is dedicated to those living in solitary confinement and experiencing mental health issues. The painting is inspired by the words Clarence wrote me. (He has been writing to me for the past 10 years and is a participant in the Prisoner Express program.) For most of these 10 years he has been living in solitary confinement in California. Clarence wrote these lines that I read as a poem - even though he had not intended them as such:
"I once measured myself and
I was nine distances upward in height;
nine widths in full circle;
four points in surface straight
across the level top.
This I will extend once freed
And we will make a temple based upon you."

These lines came back to me when I drew the giraffes at the zoo.
